Riptide Skateboard Longboard Street-Series Bushing Info Guide
RipTide's Street-Series Bushing explained.....
The RipTide Street-Series of bushings, for traditional kingpin trucks, was born from the desire to bring new levels of performance and innovation to skateboarding. Here at RipTide, we believe that to achieve your goals in skating, you need to have a high level of control over your equipment. If your setup performs the way you want it to, you have a much better chance of doing what you want to do - whether that means landing a seemingly impossible trick, controlling a massive drop at high speeds, dealing with rough roads, eliminating wheelbite, executing fluid moves during a vert session or pumping mad lines in the bowl. Up until now, the rule has been to only use cones and barrels and......
RipTide says “No More Rules…this is Skateboarding”.
In addition to offering the two traditional roadside shapes, our ShortStreetCone and the ShortStreetBarrel, we offer five boardside shapes. They include the StreetCone, StreetBarrel, StreetFatCone, StreetMagnum and the StreetChubby.
Bushing Shapes from the lowest to the highest stability.
StreetCones: Offer the lowest resistance and stability of the shapes addressed here and can allow your trucks to easily achieve their full lean and turn.
StreetBarrels: Barrels offer the next step up in stability above the Cones and are often used for a broad range of skating disciplines depending on the skaters skill level and personal preference.
StreetFatCones: FatCones have the same initial stability as a Barrel but as you lean, they offer progressively higher resistance the further you go.
StreetMagnum: High linear stability for poorly defined bushing seats. They still turn very well and can be used in a softer duro if you are looking for a stable yet plush and comfortable setup.
StreetChubbys: Chubbys offer the highest stability of all the shapes discussed here and work best in a truck that has a stepped bushing seat to take advantage of the secondary step in the bushing, the vertical side wall and Chubbys large backside. They still turn very well and can be used in a softer duro if you are looking for a stable yet plush and comfortable setup. The Chubby is one of our most versatile bushings because of its size, shape and wide applications.
Street Series Setups:
The ShortStreetCone / StreetCone setup is for those looking for a very carvy or surfy feel.
The ShortStreetCone / StreetBarrel setup is for those looking for a carvy or surfy feel but with a bit more stability. With this choice the resistance is more constant or linear throughout the range of motion.
The ShortStreetBarrel / StreetBarrel setup is for those looking for higher stability at higher speeds but still highly maneuverable.
The ShortStreetBarrel / StreetFatCone setup is for those looking for higher stability at higher speeds but still highly maneuverable. This setup is ideal when you need to restrict the ends of the lean to prevent wheelbite or if you just like a more progressive feel to your setup.
The ShortStreetBarrel / StreetMagnum is our go to set up for most high speed applications in trucks with open bushing seats. Used for high speed applications due to its high stability and versatility.
The ShortStreetBarrel / StreetChubby is our go to set up for most high speed applications in trucks with more restrictive or stepped bushing seats due to the high stability and versatility this particular combo offers.
